Distinctively CHA

Down. Set. Impact.

By Dr. Susan DeMoss

Through the generous support of our partners, Christian Heritage Academy has established endowments through WatersEdge. Their financial advisors met with our faculty and staff regarding estate planning. As a ministry partner, they highlighted CHA in their fall magazine.

Estate planning is just one way that givers give. Giving flows out of a heart of gratitude and investment. In Matthew 6:21, Jesus said, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

November and December mark the largest giving months of the year. Last week, CHA was notified that an anonymous donor had granted us $2 million if we raised $1 million in gifts and pledges by March 2023 for the remodel of the third floor.  This incredible opportunity would allow CHA to provide more classrooms to produce leaders in every sphere of society who understand America’s gospel purpose.

Would you consider giving towards this matching grant? Your gift would have a 2-for-1 impact!

Down, Set, Impact!

Let Freedom Ring

One of CHA’s distinctives is our emphasis on teaching God’s Providential hand in our world and His purpose for our nation. On November 4, at 1:45 pm, parents and grandparents are invited to watch our elementary children celebrate America with the Parade of Liberty. Over the last few years, this performance has grown in attendance as our students remind us of the blessings of liberty in our nation.

God has blessed CHA with 640 students enrolled. Because of the Opportunity Scholarship Fund (OSF), 154 students received the opportunity to attend CHA with these scholarships. The Opportunity Scholarship Fund is a program established by the state of Oklahoma. It allows taxpayers to divert some of their tax dollars to the private institution of their choice and receive a tax credit. This year, because of the generous tax donors at CHA, over $650,000 were awarded in scholarships.

Would you please consider learning more about OSF and how you may use some of your tax dollars to allow other students to attend CHA? We are hosting informational breakfasts and lunches on November 10, November 17, and December 1. Breakfasts will be from 7:30 am–8:15 am in the Alumni Room. Lunches will be from 11:30 am–12:30 pm in the Alumni Room. All events are free, and anyone (parents, grandparents, business owners, or friends) interested in learning more about this opportunity are invited to attend. If you are interested in reading more, please visit our website or https://osfkids.org/donate/. If you would like to attend one of our informational breakfasts or lunches, please contact Dr. Susan DeMoss at sdemoss@cha.org or phone at (405)672-1787 ext 233 or complete this online form.

Thank you for praying for CHA.  We hope you enjoy the Patriotic Program on Friday, November 4. It is another reminder to “let freedom ring.”

Have a wonderful week!

Be Salt

October 10, 2022
By Dr. Susan DeMoss

CHA has a rich tradition of unique and academically-targeted field trips at each elementary grade level. From Noah Webster’s Day in second grade to Creation Nation in fifth grade, students have the opportunity to enhance their studies through experiential learning opportunities.

Recently, the third grade took a field trip to The Great Salt Plains National Park area in Jet, Oklahoma. The trip was in conjunction with third graders' study of rocks and minerals. The dig area of the park is only open from April 1 to October 15 each year, and the location where visitors are allowed to dig and take crystals rotates annually within the park area. The crystals found in the area are called selenite crystals. This area in Oklahoma is the only location in the world where the crystals contain an hourglass-shaped deposit of iron-red Oklahoma dirt. Third graders learned that the significant salt deposit in the area was an effect of a time in history when sea water covered the land from Noah's Flood.

Matthew 5:14 calls Christians the “salt of the earth.” Salt is not only a preservative but is used as a flavoring, purifying, and healing agent. As believers, God wants us to purify, heal, and bring abundant flavor into His world. Isn’t it also interesting that no other place on the planet have geologists discovered the unique selenite crystals which contain hourglass-shaped crystals? (see picture below) What an impactful reminder that the hour is coming when every knee will bow and tongue confess that Jesus is Lord (Philippians 2:10-11)!  Let’s make the most of the time that we have been given by being salt in this lost world.

Awaken

October 03, 2022
By Dr. Susan DeMoss

CHA’s vision is to produce Christian leaders who understand America’s gospel purpose. One way this is accomplished is by allowing students to lead. This year’s student council representatives spent several days this summer preparing and praying for the year. Their theme for the year is “awaken.” As students discussed the most critical need for the student body, the resounding answer was for students to be alive in Christ and live out their faith. The theme verse for the year is Ephesians 5:14, which states, “for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, ‘Awake, O sleeper and arise from the dead and Christ will shine on you.’”

The fall homecoming week’s theme was “Wake Up Call.” Jake Goodman, Joel Schuermann, and Luke Thomas created a morning show video for the student body. An intense rivalry between the juniors and seniors for the coveted spirit stick was also held each day. The cafeteria staff joined in the fun by providing lunch options that went along with the theme, from chicken and waffles to pancakes on a stick.

Serving alongside students who desire to pursue Christ and lead others to know Him is a blessing. This year’s leaders not only gave of their summer to plan events but also spent time each week praying together for revival. God is answering their prayers. May we awaken to see Him move.
