Awaken

October 03, 2022
By Dr. Susan DeMoss

CHA’s vision is to produce Christian leaders who understand America’s gospel purpose. One way this is accomplished is by allowing students to lead. This year’s student council representatives spent several days this summer preparing and praying for the year. Their theme for the year is “awaken.” As students discussed the most critical need for the student body, the resounding answer was for students to be alive in Christ and live out their faith. The theme verse for the year is Ephesians 5:14, which states, “for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, ‘Awake, O sleeper and arise from the dead and Christ will shine on you.’”

The fall homecoming week’s theme was “Wake Up Call.” Jake Goodman, Joel Schuermann, and Luke Thomas created a morning show video for the student body. An intense rivalry between the juniors and seniors for the coveted spirit stick was also held each day. The cafeteria staff joined in the fun by providing lunch options that went along with the theme, from chicken and waffles to pancakes on a stick.

Serving alongside students who desire to pursue Christ and lead others to know Him is a blessing. This year’s leaders not only gave of their summer to plan events but also spent time each week praying together for revival. God is answering their prayers. May we awaken to see Him move.
