Day of Jubilee

Last week, the kindergarten classes celebrated the fiftieth day of school. Leviticus speaks of the fiftieth year as the year of jubilee.
You shall then sound a ram's horn abroad on the tenth day of the seventh month; on the day of atonement, you shall sound a horn all through your land. You shall thus consecrate the fiftieth year and proclaim a release through the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you. (Leviticus 25:1–4, 8–10, NASB)
Jubilee was the year of celebration. Celebrating is important to God. His word reminds us to remember and celebrate. Making it to the fiftieth day of school this school year is a reason to celebrate. In the midst of a worldwide pandemic, God has graciously protected us and allowed us to remain in school. This is indeed a reason for jubilation. CHA is currently in its forty-ninth year as a school. Next year, 2021-2022, CHA will be fifty years old. We have already begun planning our “Year of Jubilee” celebration.
We still have space available at Thursday’s Opportunity Scholarship Fund (OSF) informational breakfast and luncheon. Breakfast will be from 7:30 am — 8:15 am in the Alumni Room. Lunch will be from 11:30 am — 12:30 pm in the Alumni Room. All events are free and anyone (parents, grandparents, business owners, friends, etc.) who is interested in learning more about this opportunity is invited to attend. Today, we hosted our first of three OSF information breakfasts and luncheons. This year, because of the generous tax donors at CHA, we were able to award $358,007 in scholarships through the Opportunity Scholarship Fund.
Would you please consider learning more about OSF and how you may use some of your tax dollars to give other students the opportunity to attend CHA? We are hosting informational breakfasts and lunches on November 19 and December 3. Breakfasts will be from 7:30 am — 8:15 am in the Alumni Room. Lunches will be in the Alumni Room from 11:30 am — 12:30 pm. All events are free and anyone (parents, grandparents, business owners, friends) who is interested in learning more about this opportunity is invited to attend. Mayberry

Over the last eight months, the current circumstances have caused many of us to consider what really matters. It has caused us to reflect on how we do things and why we do things. It has made us appreciate the simplicity of life. Last Thursday, PURPOSE (Parents Utilizing Resources and Providing Opportunities to Serve and Encourage) hosted CHA’s annual Fall Festival. With the current social distancing restrictions and indoor concerns, the event was primarily held outdoors with an “old school” autumn flair. The hay bales and twinkle lights were like something out of a Hallmark movie. What is more interesting is that others said the same thing.
What makes Hallmark movies memorable? The storyline is simple. There is a happy ending. Fellowship and people matter. It beckons us to a time when children run and play unhindered. When people are not in a hurry and enjoy socializing over a cup of hot chocolate. When laughter and mingling beat any top 40 song, and an outdoor hamburger is better than any t-bone steak. This is why I fondly refer to CHA as “Mayberry.”
This week, we have the opportunity to enjoy each other once again on Friday night at our home District play-off game. The game starts at 7 pm. We are also celebrating our alumni at this event. Coach Tony Merrell has some special activities planned for any alumni football players in attendance. Mr. Holmes will be at the alumni table located by the front gate. Any alumni in attendance who update their contact information will receive a five-dollar pass to the concession stand. If you have ever been to one of our football games, you will see that “Mayberry” is still alive and well.

Power of Prayer

Last week, Mr. Josh Bullard fell while trimming a tree in his front yard before the ice storm. In the hours following, countless members of CHA family beseeched the throne of grace for God’s mercy, protection, and healing. God graciously heard our prayers and provided. There is power in prayer.
As we approach November 3 and the election of our nation’s next leaders, may we remember that there is power in prayer. We worship and serve a God who hears our prayers, who is approachable, and who loves us. He is a God who stands for truth because He is Truth. I am so thankful for Christian Heritage Academy and its commitment to teaching the Truth from every subject. I am thankful for our faculty members who have dedicated their lives to studying God’s Word and the principles of their subject through the lens of Scripture. I am thankful for the opportunity to pray with and for students every day in every hour of the day. I am thankful that See You At The Pole is not just an event that occurs once a year but is lived out daily in the classrooms, offices, and halls of CHA. There is power in prayer.

Thank you for continuing to pray for Mr. J. Bullard as he recovers from surgery. Thank you for praying for CHA. We hope to see you at the Patriotic Program on Monday afternoon and at the Fall Festival on Thursday evening. We are praying that the Lord will provide additional resources for us to allow more families to experience the CHA Way. There is power in prayer.
