Mindset

October 16, 2023
By Dr. Susan DeMoss

The theme of this year’s CHA State Champion Volleyball Team was “mindset.” A mindset is defined as an attitude held by someone. A mindset is described as beliefs that shape your world. A current term in business and education theory is “growth mindset.” It is the understanding that intellectual abilities and talents are the starting points developed through hard work and dedication. It is the idea that all things are possible. It is also known as redemptive thinking.

God’s word reminds us time and again that He is able to:

  • Make all things new (Revelations 21:5)
  • Turn into beauty from ashes (Isaiah 61:3)
  • Do the impossible (Matthew 19:26)

I am so thankful for our coaches at CHA, who teach our student-athletes more than athletic skills and strategy. They focus on the heart, soul, and mind and point the students towards Christ. Our distinct philosophy of athletics helps “set” their “minds” on the things above (Col 3:2).
