Sept 16–23, 2023 | Plymouth & Boston, MA

PURPOSES OF THE TOUR

—  To discover the influence of the gospel in the founding and development of our country.

—  To read our history with greater interest and zeal, as we see the evidence of God's providential hand.

—  To admire the character and faith of the Pilgrims, as we walk the streets of Plymouth, America's hometown.

—  To catch the Spirit of '76 and American independence in Boston, Lexington, Concord, and Cambridge.

—  To become better acquainted with key individuals like William Bradford, Squanto, Massasoit, John and Abigail Adams, Samuel Adams, Paul Revere, George Washington, Adoniram Judson and many more.

—  To equip and inspire participants to be active in the preservation and restoration of our Christian Republic.

OVERVIEW OF TOUR

Saturday, September 16

After we arrive in Boston, we'll take a bus to Plymouth, check-in to the Plymouth 1620, then welcome you to America's hometown. We'll take a walking tour of Plymouth and the sites located along the shores of Plymouth Harbor.

Sunday, September 17

We'll travel to beautiful Cape Cod, visit Corn Hill and Pilgrim Springs, eat at the Lobster Pot, and shop in Provincetown. Then we will walk along the beach, tour Pilgrim Monument, and visit the Mayflower Compact Relief. Upon our return, we will eat in Plymouth.

Monday, September 18

We will spend the day in Plymouth which includes a visit to Plimoth Plantation, the restoration of the original Pilgrim colony. Then we will visit Forefathers' Monument, Mayflower II, and Burial Hill. Our day will include candlepin bowling and a visit to Pilgrim Hall, America's oldest museum, after which we will shop, eat, and relax.

Tuesday, September 19

We will transition from Plymouth to Boston. On the way, we will stop at the Adams' House and Kennedy Library. After lunch, we will tour the USS Constitution and Bunker Hill. We'll end the day with dinner at Quincy Market.

Wednesday–Friday, September 20–22

Our focus will be on the Revolutionary era. Monuments, statues, and plaques are everywhere. Many reveal God's hand in our country's founding. We will visit Old North Church, the Old State House, the Old South Meeting House, Lexington Green, Old North Bridge in Concord, beautiful Cambridge Common and Harvard University, and the site of the Boston Massacre. We will also see the beautiful Boston Commons and Boston Gardens, as well as enjoy dinner in the Italian District. We will also visit modern sites like Fenway Park, the sobering Holocaust Memorial, and much more.

The tour will end with a dinner at the Wayside Inn, America's oldest inn, and a brief review of our experience.

Saturday, September 23

We will depart Logan International Airport on individual schedules.

TRIP EXPENSES

The trip cost is $2,100/person, which covers double-room occupancy, two evening meals, all admissions to schedule sites and tours, bus and subway expenses, and transportation to Plymouth from Boston's Logan Airport. The $2,100 does not include flights to or from Boston (more details later), other meals, or transportation from the hotel to the airport at the conclusion of the tour.

A $350 deposit/person is due by June 16, 2023. However, spots are limited and will be taken in the order received. Final payment is due by August 1, 2023.

The tour is sponsored by the Ralph Bullard Heritage Foundation. The Foundation has the right to increase trip costs in the case that expenses increase outside of our control. Most costs have a guaranteed contract. Any left over money will go to the Foundation, which helps pay for teachers to go on future tours.

TOUR GUIDES

MR. DAVID HOLMES

Mr. Holmes came to CHA in 1975 and taught biology, chemistry, and physics. He then served as our Secondary Headmaster until 2020. Mr. Holmes has led the Senior Trip to Plymouth and Boston since 1986 and has directed over 40 tours. He currently serves as our School Ambassador.

MR. AARON FERGUSON

Mr. Ferguson came to CHA in 1994 and teaches juniors and seniors America's Christian History and Government. He also heads our student leadership program and designs many of the school's publications. Mr. Ferguson is the author of The Liberty Pyramid: The Founders' Framework and Worldview Matters.
